Bob Sokolowski was born in Chicago on July 24, 1962. He grew up in suburban Niles and attended Notre Dame High School where he was cast in a number of musicals. He played bass and sang lead in his first band while in high school. After graduating Bob when to the University of Illinois Chicago and majored in Theatre/Communications. He performed in a number of plays including Othello; One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
Bob became Bob Noxious in the band Bobnoxious and the trio became notorious in the underground Chicago punk scene for playing great loud shows in their underwear. The band changed their name to Giant, which they had also trademarked. Sure enough a band of the same name in LA was signed to A & M records and Herb Alpert sent his minions to Chicago to try and per$uade Bob and the boys to sell the name. They got $3,000 for it and changed their named to King Vitamin, made a record and went on tour. The band opened for Faith No More, and had the dubious distinction of having the late great and at the time much tamer, G. G. Allin open for them in Boston. But of course all good things come to end and when the drummer quit, the band threw in the towel.
Bob went to manage his friend Len Austrevich's comedy club - The Funny Firm where he participated in the weekly comedy revue The Blue Night Special. The Blue Night Players performed funny dirty sketches to an audience of depraved hooligans on Fridays at midnight and guaranteed to offend everyone. Rick Overton, Bill Hicks, and a number of other talented comedians would join the Blue Night Players while in town doing their own stand up acts.
LA was the next stop for Bob as he tried with Len to bring the Blue Night Special out west. However the humor did not go over as well for the liberal Californians as it had for the Blue Collar Chicagoans. The Blue Night Special was dead and Bob was looking for work. After some odd jobs Bob landed at Universal Studios where he became a studio guide. He worked his way up the corporate ladder and became a graphic designer. While at Universal Bob's friend T. Sean Shannon who wrote for the Tonight Show asked him to be in a sketch for the show. Bob continued to do more Tonight Show sketches until T. Sean went on to become a head writer for the talk show Vibe and asked Bob to do a sketch on that show. When Jay Leno saw Bob on the other talk show he said, "Oh we can't have him on our show anymore." And then Universal starting cutting back their staff and Bob was let go.
Disneyland decided they needed Bob and hired him as computer artist for the sign shop where he currently and happily works with the Basket Weaving Babies. Bob also performs sketch comedy with Fred Willard and his comedy sketch class, the Mohos. Bob will be performing in a show with other members of the Mohos this summer called "Pafs The Mustard". Look for details soon.
