My Thoughts

I am truly blessed. Early this year after the second video (burstedman). I wrote watt and asked if he would

help with an upcoming project of mine, recording a few of my tunes. The man is so busy, what was I doing

asking. He said he’d be happy to help.  Then I ask Pete (Mazich) and Jerry (Tribotic) if they would

participate in this project. They both said yes. AWESOME.

Figuring it would be a few months ‘til the actual recording took place I practiced my ass off. My main

instrument is bass (love it) but for the last few years, I’ve been playing guitar (Rickenbacker 620) with the

Basket Weaving Babies doing surf covers (walk don’t run, out of limits. etc),

which helped my picking technique.

In the last 3 months, I started putting together some recording equipment:

Audiotrak’s Maya 1010 (10 in 10 out)

Behringer BCF2000 Controller

Alesis 12 track USB mixer – with digital out

Lexicon MX200

Behringer Composer (compression, expander, noise gate).

Nady 8 input mic amp

Behringer 4 headphone amp.

And a multitude of mics, mic stands, cabling.

I’ve been recording for years, on my computer one track at a time with me playing as many of the

instruments as I could. But now I would be recording multiple tracks simultaneously.

About a month before I was to record with watt , pete and jer I recorded with the Basket Weaving Babies,

and gained some experience in recording the drums (I learned much).

Pete brought his Lesley speaker, what a great sound. I put it in the hallway and shut the doors to help it not

leak on the drum tracks. This worked well. Watt brought an amp and we went direct into the board. Jer

brought his drums the night before so I could set up the mics.

I think the recordings turned out really well (the guys were great). (I can't say great 'till I earn it).

It was great watching and listening to these guys interact, watt loves his guys and there was a good amount of

respect  floating around the room.  I hope this is not the last time I record with the guys; I had a great

experience on  the 17th of  November and don’t want to stop there.
